UMkhanyakude District Municipality today delivered two high-capacity backup generators for Mashabane Water Treatment Works and its Raw Water Pump Station, marking a decisive milestone in securing reliable water supply.
This delivery is a critical component of the ongoing Section 63 intervention to upgrade the plant from 0.5ML to 3ML per day.
For communities such as Hlokohloko, Hlazane, Mboza, Welcome and Madonela, this intervention addresses the root cause of prolonged interruptions. This is infrastructure that was missing is made of made durable condition and can work prolonged hours
The installation will ensure continuous water treatment and pumping during power outages, ending the cycle where electricity interruptions meant dry taps.
It was not an easy journey, but the Municipality remains resolute in delivering resilient and sustainable water infrastructure to all our communities.
